What to Expect When Getting Invisalign

There is an initial consultation involved during which we will examine your teeth and determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign®. If so, we’ll take photographs, X-rays and impressions of your teeth. The necessary data are sent to the Invisalign laboratory where your aligner series will be custom-created.

You can pick up your aligners when they’ve been sent back to our practice and start wearing them straightaway. We’ll see you about every 6-8 weeks for a checkup to ensure that progress is being made.

Caring for Your Aligners

You can clean your aligners each night using tap water and a soft toothbrush. Avoid using toothpaste or hot water, as these can scratch or warp the aligners. Wear them for 22 hours each day, and your total treatment time should be 12-18 months. Afterwards, we’ll give you a clear retainer that you can wear at night to maintain the new alignment of your smile.
